The Wheel of Misfortune a wheel in the Haunted Woods' Deserted Fairground that seems to have its odds bent away from the player's favour, as shown by the wheel's host: a sinister and shadowy Gelert who appears to take delight when the player loses something, and gets upset when they win something.
The Wheel of Misfortune can be spun for 150 NP once every two hours.
The player loses some Neopoints. (This can also take more than what the player has on hand, making them go into the negatives.)
Pile of Sludge
A random item from the user's inventory is turned into a Pile of Sludge. (Nothing happens if the player has nothing on hand. However, they can still get the Wheel of Misfortune avatar when landing on this spot.)
Burning Book
The player's active pet will "forget" a book, making the player have to read that book to them again.
Bag of NP
The player wins some Neopoints.
Pant Devil
The Pant Devil will steal an item from the player's inventory. (Nothing happens if the player has nothing on hand.)

The original Wheel of Misfortune design was meant to appear to be made from past victims, hence the blood, bones, and flesh-looking material.
Although the Gelert running the wheel appears to be a living shadow, in the Neopedia it states that his teeth are shown, and his nose is also visible, suggesting he originally was just a silhouette.
