- "Amazing... to have set foot on the very foundation of legends, yet still leave so much undiscovered."
– Professor Hugo Fairweather
Hugo Fairweather is a character who was featured in the Journey to the Lost Isle plot. He is an archeolinguist and expert of ancient lore, and also teaches at Brightvale University. His life's mission was to find an island described in an old journal, which earned him the ridicule of his colleagues who believed it to be nothing more than a myth.
Hugo, his daughter Lilian, and assistant Werther mounted an expedition to find the mysterious island, and dashing young explorer Roxton A. Colchester III agreed to accompany them. They hired Captain Jethro Rourke of the S.S. Primella to take them on the journey. The island was discovered, and they found out it was inhabited by giant Petpetpets. For their safety, the group was forced to leave abruptly, but not before Lilian took an unidentified fruit as proof they had been there. The Fairweathers have since been trying to put together another expedition to the island.
