Food is a variety of item that can be used to feed a pet when they get hungry.
Free food[]
- The Giant Omelette* [1] on the Tyrannian Plateau; each omelette provides three servings.
- The Giant Jelly* [2] in Jelly World; each jelly and trifle provide two servings.
- The Soup Kitchen at the Neopia Central Marketplace; only provides food to pets whose owners have less than 3,000 NP on hand, in their bank account, and/or shop till.
- The Movie Central; only works with a Flash workaround.
- *Some users can also sell their extra omelettes and jellies/trifles in their shops in case their patrons need more food than what is received for free.
Non-free food[]
- Pets can eat out at restaurants such as Kelp or the Golden Dubloon; sometimes, the user can take the food with them.
- Food can be bought and sold in various shops around Neopia.
- There are also rare food items called gourmet food, which tend to be extremely expensive, but some can also be rather cheap.
- There is also a special type of food called "super food" that can be bought from the NC Mall; it will instantly make a pet bloated and delighted.
Different Food Effects[]
- Some food, such as poisonous and rotten food, may make a pet sick, while some species of pets may have allergies to certain types of food.
- Some food, such as Neggery neggs or Mystic Mushrooms may have interesting effects such as increasing a pet's strength.
- If a Pteri is fed something with the word "worm" in its name, or a Kau with milk, they will instantly become bloated regardless of their hunger status.
- Gross food can decrease the pet's happiness.
- Strangely, the Rainbow Melt Pizza changes a pet's hunger status to "very full".
Trivia[]
- Prior to March 2024, users' Neopets would refuse food that contained the same amount of letters as the pet's name (e.g. a pet with a 7-letter name would have refused food with 7, 14, 21 or 28 letters).
- Grarrls and Skeiths are able to eat any item. They can even eat items in their user's inventory when they get hungry, so it is recommended for the user to store important items in their safety deposit box if they own any of these pets.
