Faerie Fragments (previously called Neopia Studio and Faerie's Hope) is a match-3 game for the iOS and Android.

Story[]

The game's story is based on the events surrounding the Lost Fragments event, with it revolving around a Light Faerie named Luxinia needing the player's help in recovering long lost memories.

Gameplay[]

The objective throughout each level of Faerie Fragments is to make matches of three or more Neopet tiles whilst embarking on a journey to restore the player's home. Once they complete a level, the player will earn Wocky Jelly, which is required to progress the main storyline - completing a Side Story level will instead earn the player Wocky Jam, which is required for the side storyline.

Special Tiles[]

  • Flowers can remove all Neopet tiles in the same row and column as it. These are generated by matching four Neopet tiles.
  • Butterflies remove any Neopet tiles surrounding it, as well as a tile that is required to complete the level. These are generated by matching 4-5 Neopet tiles in a square.
  • Bombs can remove any surrounding Neopet tiles within a 5x5 radius. These are generated by matching five Neopet tiles on both horizontal and vertical angles.
  • Nova Rods can remove all Neopet tiles of the same colour as the one that it is activated with. These are generated by matching five Neopet tiles on either horizontal or vertical angles.

Boosters[]

Boosters are special tiles that give the player an advantage to a level that they would likely be stuck on. These automatically appear anywhere on the board once the level starts.

Gifts from Neopia[]

From Level 30 onwards, once the player builds up a consistent win streak, they will get free boosters that are automatically redeemed at the start of the next level, as well as levels after that if they keep up the streak. These boosters are in conjunction to any boosters that they choose to use on a certain level.

Power-Ups[]

Power-Ups are used to manipulate the board to make it easier to complete the level. Unlike using a booster, using a power-up does not account for one of the player's turns.

  • The Mini Wand removes one tile from the board. This power-up costs 1,800 Coins.
  • The Mega Wand has the same effect as a flower, removing all Neopet tiles in the same row and column the power-up it is activated on.
  • The Glove swaps any two adjacent tiles on the board.
  • The Rainbow Negg shuffles all tiles on the board (this naturally occurs when no available swaps can be made).

Currencies[]

  • Costume Tokens are redeemable for clothes for the player's in-game player Neopet(s).
  • Gold Coins are exchangeable for extra lives, extra turns or extra power-ups. (Caution: May cost real money!)
  • As previously mentioned, Wocky Jelly is used to advance in the main storyline, and the Wocky Jam for the side storyline.
  • Lives are needed to complete levels, as one is automatically lost when one is started, and becomes permanently lost when the player loses or quits a level. Each player has five lives by default, and they replenish over time (once every 30 minutes) or for coins.

Release[]

After being in development since 2020, the game was released in beta testing in January 2022 under the name "Neopia Studio". On January 22nd, it was "officially" released to the Google Play store, but after various reports of the game not working properly, Neopia Studio was remade into Faerie's Hope on April 13 of that same year. A week later, beta testing for the game was reopened to the public, and the game was officially released later that year on December 15th.

On January 27, 2024, Faerie's Hope went offline so that the staff could prepare for another relaunch of it:

In our commitment to delivering the best gaming experience, we're temporarily taking Faerie's Hope offline to prepare for an upgraded relaunch with enhanced gameplay.
To all our players, both new and loyal, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your support means the world to us, and we're committed to making every version of Faerie's Hope better for everyone.
If you made a purchase during the month of January in 2024, we will process your refund. Please email your purchase receipt/proof of payment to faerieshope@neopets.com with "Faerie's Hope Refund" in the subject line.
When Faerie's Hope makes its return, get ready to embark on an epic new journey! While we were unable to transfer old account progress to the new servers due to limiting external factors, we're thrilled at the prospect of everyone conquering fresh in-game challenges on a level playing field.
Anticipate a host of exciting upgrades, including a NeoPass integration, on-site Neopoint rewards systems, infrastructure enhancements, bug fixes, and enriched narrative and visual experiences.
Stay tuned for updates as we prepare to launch Faerie's Hope stronger than ever before. Thank you for being an integral part of this journey with us!

Later, in September of that year, Faerie's Hope was announced to be rebranded to Faerie Fragments. The game was then officially released on October 17th, after some players gained access to it a day early.
