- "Everything is a game. A vile, evil, delightful game."
– Eliv Thade (TCG)
Eliv Thade is a Kacheek ghost that haunts the castle he once resided in.
History[]
Haunted Woods, where he professionally wrote and solved puzzles. He put forth a challenge, claiming he could solve any puzzle, and many would try to stump him, to prove themselves more clever than him. He easily finished every puzzle anyone gave him, except one given to him by one of his servants. He became obsessed with solving it until he lost his mind and his servants eventually left for their own safety. Eventually, Thade passed away all alone, unable to solve the puzzle. His spirit now haunts his abandoned mansion, and traps intruders inside, forcing them to solve puzzles if they wish to survive, with the young Usul Gilly being the only confirmed survivor. He created a book called The Grimoire of Thade, though the previous reader is said to have gone mad after reading just two pages.
Speculation on The Puzzle[]
When inquired, TNT has refused to say what the puzzle that drove Eliv Thade insane is, likely because they never actually wrote one, and thus never had an actual puzzle in mind.[1] This did not stop fans from speculating on what could have done it, and it is still possible that TNT may write one in the future.
It is speculated by some fans that his name could be the puzzle that drove him to insanity, as it is an anagram with multiple solutions, and because Eliv Thade himself uses anagrams instead of any other form of puzzles; however, this seems unlikely, as it has never been indicated he had a previous name prior to being presented the puzzle, nor would it make sense for him to be driven mad simply because an anagram has multiple solutions since in his game, many of the anagrams also have multiple solutions, and he will accept multiple solutions in those cases.
There are also many real-life unsolvable puzzles that can be read about here that may have inspired the puzzle that sent Eliv Thade into madness.
Appearance[]
This portrait in the game was confirmed by TNT to be Eliv Thade when he was alive
Currently, he has a white patch on his face and one red eye that is enormous compared to his right eye, which is the normal size for a kacheek. He wears a long, purple coat, and his legs and arms are covered in bandages. It is unknown whether these changes in appearance happened before his death or after.
Personality[]
From what little can be gathered, he seemed quite prideful of his puzzle-solving skills and was prone to obsession when unable to solve one, as seen when he obsessed over the puzzle he was never able to solve, further fueled by the servant who presented it constantly bringing it up until forced to flee with the others when Thade descended into madness.
Trivia[]
- Eliv Thade's name is an anagram that can be unscrambled to form "Evil Hated", "Evil Death", "Vile Death", "Vile Hated" and "Live Death."
- He is shown in the background of The Awakened Trailer.
