Neopets: Codestone Quest is a Neopets video game for the PC.

Plot[]

An alchemist named Oswoc needs Codestones to activate a mysterious spell, and you must travel to seven Faerie Rings to collect them. Trouble is brewing, though, as the wicked Balthazar is capturing as many Faeries as possible using a magic charm. The faeries offer help to the player (who can choose to be a Blumaroo or Kacheek) in finding the Codestones in exchange for them being freed from Balthazar.

Gameplay[]

Codestone Quest plays like a sphere-matching game, in which the general objective is to free jarred Faeries (that come in rows of 3+) by shooting matching colored bottles at them before they reach the Magic Cart at the end of the path. The player's bottle launcher can be moved left and right at the bottom of the screen. They can also choose one of three available bottle colors to launch manually.

Power-Ups[]

There are two different types of power-ups: Petpet and Magic.

  • Petpet power-ups can be purchased using dubloons after after a level is complete. Each Petpet gives a different boost when used: for example, a Snowickle will freeze all bottles on screen, while a Baby Fireball will destroy a certain number of bottles at once. Up to five Petpets can be stockpiled at a time.
  • Magic power-ups can be acquired during gameplay by matching colored bottles in a set order, as displayed in parentheses. At first, the player can only use Color Blast, but more will unlock as the player progresses through the game.
    • Color Blast (Yellow + Yellow) — Eradicates all bottles represented by the specified color on contact.
    • Wildcard Bottle (Blue + Yellow + Green) — Matches with any bottle color.
    • Targeting Beam (Red + Green) — Makes the shooter emit a beam to help players aim, lasting for 15 seconds.
    • Lightning Blast (White + Blue + Green) — Destroys all bottles in the bolt's path at the point of discharge.
    • Fireball (Purple + Green + Purple) — Explodes on contact, destroying the affected bottles within its radius.

Trivia[]

  • This game is technically a Luxor spin-off since it shares similar in-game code.
