The Charity Corner is an annual item donation event on Neopets. It is usually hosted by an elderly yellow Acara called Granny Hopbobbin, apart from 2020's Charity Corner, which was hosted by a brown Gnorbu named Atsumi Grelinek (Mirsha's sister)).
Site Description[]
" Want to help out some Neopians in need? Have no fear, Granny Hopbobbin is here in the Charity Corner! You can help out some of Neopia's poorest Neopians by donating items that Granny Hopbobbin's asking for! "
Neocash Drive[]
The Neocash Drive is the Neocash component of the Charity Corner. It will allow donations of Neocash items, granting donators access to an NC gift shop with exclusive prizes that cost anywhere from 1-4 donation receipts.
To donate, the user would have to purchase that year's token from the NC Mall for every three NC items that the user would like to donate.
2014[]
For the first Charity Corner event, players had to Adopt a Neopian and give them a set list of items. After activating the "quest", which items were needed had to be deciphered.
In addition to specific item donations, you may also donate toy items to the Toy Drive. You must donate 5 toys at a time to receive a prize.
Your five toys must:
- Restock in the main shops
- Have a rarity of r1 up to r99
- Fall within one of these ranges: r1-r69, r70-r79, r80-r89, r90-r99
As a reward for donating five toy items, you will receive a random item that is from the same rarity range your donated toys belonged to.
The Gift Basket Centre will be open from December 15 until December 31, 2014.
To get started, you'll need to purchase a Roll of Basket Wrap for every three NC items you want to donate. After you purchase your wrap, choose any three Neocash items you would like to donate, and place them in your inventory. Any Neocash item is eligible for donation.
A top ten list is visible on the Charity Corner homepage, listing the 10 "most generous" Neopians along with the number of times they have donated.
On January 6, 2015, after the Charity Corner event ended, all Neopians who donated at least once received a special prize for their participation in the event.
2015[]
For the second Charity Corner event, Granny Hopbobbin collected school supplies for needy Neopians during the fall season from September 24 through October 8, 2015.
Hopbobbin set up these rules for her Neopoint Drive:
- Each item must be donated in increasing rarity order.
- Each item must be 5 rarity points greater than the previous item.
2017[]
For the third Charity Corner event, Granny Hopbobbin partnered up with TNT to collect items to help provide necessities for all Neopians from February 2nd, through February 9th (a mere 7.5 days!) at 11:59pm NST.
This year, you may donate a wide variety of item types. Each donation must be 5 items from the same category that are any rarity from r1 through r99.
The Gift Pack Packing Centre will be open February 2nd, through February 9th.
To get started, you'll need to purchase a Gift Pack Packing Centre Ticket for every three NC items you want to donate.
2018[]
For the fourth Charity Corner event, Granny Hopbobbin assisted victims of the Wraith Resurgence from March 12th through March 23rd.
As of this year, the following changes were made:
- The user may donate any r1-r200 item, and combination of such.
- The user may donate an item from any category.
- The user can donate 1-5 items at once.
- The user cannot donate r180 (retired) items.
- The user can only donate Neocash/Artifact (r500) items via the Neocash Drive.
- During Charity Corner, the Ever-Stocked General Store and Neohome Superstore are closed.
- Donations will grant the user with Perks Shop points instead of items.
The points the user will receive depend on the individual items' rarities:
- r1-r79: 1 point
- r80-89: 2 points
- r90-97: 6 points
- r98-r100: 8 points
- Sticky Snowball: 1 point (a restriction in 2020, despite being r100)
- r101: 1 point
- r102-r179: 4 points
- r200: 15 points
The Giveaway Hamper Centre, which ran from March 12th-23rd, accepted donations of Neocash items and granted donators access to a special gift shop with exclusive Neocash items.
2019[]
For the fifth Charity Corner event, Granny Hopbobbin handed over duties to Atsumi, the founder of a new movement called Living with Less.
It ran from May 6th at 10:00 pm NST through May 27th at 11:59 PM NST. Previously, the event was only meant to run from May 6-20th but was extended last minute for a week.
2020[]
For the sixth Charity Corner, Granny Hopbobbin collected relief supplies for the citizens of Dacardia with the assistance of Captain Rourke for shuttling supplies. Participants also received an avatar for donating at least 100 items.
The event ran from September 14th through September 28th, 11:59 PM NST.
This year, a prize shop replaced the Perks Shop, allowing players to spend their points both during and after the event.
